So when youre cutting down on the things youre bringing, make sure to still bring these: Decorations/Memorabilia Bring something from home that reminds you of home. Your dorm is your new home for the next eight months. So make it like your home. Declare it your second home, a treehouse, a secret base, an HQ. Personalize it and make it unique to you. Also, make it stand out. Get a neon sign and hang it up. A lava lamp. A bonsai  tree. Giant Googly Eyes for your fridge. Just have something that lets people know when they walk in Yep, this is definitely Ericks room. It could even just be your unleashed artistic creativity on an unsuspecting wall. Me? I have a collage of family pictures, a Phi Kappa Sigma flag, and a sketch of Tony Stark during his college days a comic book artist drew for me at Comic Con. In fact, you probably need two, so buy three. Surge protectors are great because they add extra outlets and can extend outlets to any location in your room. For some reason the outlet overlords always put outlets in the most inconvenient locations, so surge protectors go a long way in helping you set up your room exactly how you want it to be. I have one next to my bed where I can charge my electronics and another one behind my desk for my laptop, mini fridge, and TV connect to. They also protects your devices from being overloaded in the case of a power spike, so ideally you want to plug everything you have through a surge protector. You should avoid having something plugged into each of the outlets, as they can draw too much power and overload the circuits. Also avoid plugging a surge protector into another surge protector (daisy chaining) for the same reasons of potential overload. Batteries In a world of chargeable devices, where do batteries still fit in? Surprisingly, in a lot. Most flashlights, Xbox controllers, Arduino add-ons. Even if you dont have anything that runs on batteries right now, you never know when youll get something. At MIT, people are working on projects all the time, theres a lot of uses on batteries. Its always best to have a pack of AA and AAA batteries handy. As they say, All tech men carry batteries. (Thanks Keri G. 10 for telling us that!) Spending Money You already took care of your school supplies and went back to school clothes shopping. You bought all the stuff you think youll need for your dorm and you may even have a meal plan, which is paid in advance. But dont forget to bring spending money. It could be in your bank account or in cash. Ideally you want to always have a comfortable amount of money that you can spend at any given time. You dont have to actually spend it, but just having it gives a peace of mind that you could if you wanted to. Now, whether or not you have the discipline NOT to is a different story.

The village has a population of approximately 2601 residents. It has substantial history with many of the historic buildings still there to see in and around the village. For example, it doesnt allow you to schedule tweets for later, monitor how many people have clicked on your links, combine multiple accounts or view more than one stream of information at a time. So most people who embrace Twitter use a variety of tools and apps to improve their experience. 1. Dashboard Two of the most popular dashboards are Tweetdeck (which started out as a separate entity but was bought by Twitter in May 2011) and Hootsuite. Both are free and let you view several streams simultaneously (for example your own tweets, replies to your tweets, direct messages or your timeline) in adjacent columns. Theyre also good for managing multiple Twitter accounts at the same time, and scheduling tweets. The main difference is that Tweetdeck is a desktop app so its not ideal if you hotdesk or work from several locations, while Hootsuite is browser based and therefore more portable. 2. Scheduled tweets Buffer offers even easier tweet scheduling, where instead of programming in a time and date for each tweet, you simply set a pattern. For example, you could program it to send two tweets a day, at 12.30pm and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. Then you just fill up the dashboard with your tweets and drag and drop them into the order you want. It also tracks the performance of tweets sent through Buffer, letting you know how many clicks, retweets, replies and favourites they received, as well as their potential reach. 3. Basically, youre already doing it right if people are talking to you, RTing you or opening your links, and if your number of followers is growing. However, if you do want a little feedback, there are services available. Just remember to take what they say with a pinch of salt, and not get too caught up in the idea of performance after all, its about communication and relationships, not numbers. One interesting service is Crowdbooster, which shows you which of your tweets have been most popular and how many people they have potentially reached (it calls these impressions). It also reminds you about tweets you havent yet replied to, offers you the opportunity to schedule tweets for later and even advises you about what it thinks is the best time of day to tweet to your followers. If you just want to use it with one Twitter account, its free. To add more, youll have to pay ($39 a month for ten accounts, $99 a month for 30 accounts). A more controversial service is Klout, which scores your social influence between 1 and 100 based on data such as follower and following numbers, retweets and interactions. Cancer In 1956, Franklin discovered she had tumors in her abdomen. She continued to work while undergoing treatment for cancer. She was hospitalized at the end of 1957, returned to work in early 1958, but soon became unable to work. She died in April. What does it take to be honest? Although often invoked, the concept of honesty is quite tricky to characterize. Taking a closer look, it is a cognate notion of authenticity. Heres why. Not only you may not have enough time and you won’t recall all details, but is everything really relevant? Should you also talk about the surprise party you are organizing for next week for your partner? The relationship between honesty and truth is much more subtle. What is truth about a person, anyway? When a judge asks a witness to tell the truth about what happened that day, the request cannot be for any particular whatsoever but only for relevant ones. Who is to say which particulars are relevant? Honesty and the Self Those few remarks should be sufficient in clearing up the intricate relationship there is between honesty and the construction of a self.
