The written report was to include recommendations and was to be submitted to Ms Rachel Rae on 17 December 2014. Kilmaurs is a village in East Ayrshire, around 2 miles north of Kilmarnock town. The village has a population of approximately 2601 residents. It has substantial history with many of the historic buildings still there to see in and around the village. It offers great travel links to Glasgow whether it be by bus, train or car. Throughout this report I hope to learn more about my local village and enjoy the opportunity to gather information through speaking with the locals. Procedure In order to gather the relevant information, the following procedures were adopted: A questionnaire (see appendix 1) was created which was handed out to 20 local residents on 8 October 2014 and were returned on 20 November 2014 Relevant material was researched online about the local services and facilities available to residents and visitors to Kilmaurs. Leadership Models Organizational Culture Cornelius Cash Grand Canyon University LDR804-Leading across Cultures September 7, 2016 Ethical Leadership Models Leaders that demonstrate a commitment to behaving in an ethical manner are viewed as trustworthy and subordinates gravitate toward them. Ethical leaders have a foundational belief in honesty and trustworthiness and disseminating these principles throughout the organization. This paper will present ethical leadership models as tools for merging diverse cultures into the existing organizational culture. An overview of which leadership models, styles, and traits are most commonly accepted as ethical across the greatest array of social cultures will be discussed. The paper will culminate with a selection of a particular leadership model as a tool for shaping organizational culture and the rationale for selecting that model. Authentic leadership Leaders who demonstrate authenticity when leading multinational organizations are called authentic leaders (Johansson, Miller Hamrin, 2014). Their central premise is to build relationships with subordinates of diverse cultures. Valuing subordinate input and building trust on ethical principles is the foundation upon which the organization is built. Authentic leadership promotes tolerance and objectivity in building trust and transparency that bridge the levels of management. NINE TOIL AND TROUBLE So why is it that we are going to Great Birnam Wood to look for witches?Ã¢â¬ asked Kent as we made our way across the moor. There was only a slight breeze but it was bloody cold, what with the mist and the gloom and my despair over King Jeff. I pulled my woolen cape around me. Three bent-backed hags were walking a slow circle around a large cauldron, dropping in twisted bits of this and that as they chanted. Ã¢â¬Å"Double, double, toil and trouble: Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Witches,Ã¢â¬ whispered Kent, paying tribute to the god of all things bloody fucking obvious. Ã¢â¬Å"Aye,Ã¢â¬ said I, in lieu of clouting him. (Jones stayed behind to guard my hat.) Ã¢â¬Å"Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog, AdderÃ¢â¬â¢s fork and blind-wormÃ¢â¬â¢s sting, LizardÃ¢â¬â¢s leg and owletÃ¢â¬â¢s wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.Ã¢â¬ They double-bubbled the chorus and we were readying ourselves for another verse of the recipe when I felt something brush against my leg. It was all I could do not to cry out. I felt KentÃ¢â¬â¢s hand on my shoulder. Ã¢â¬Å"Steady, lad, itÃ¢â¬â¢s just a cat.Ã¢â¬ Another brush, and a meow. Two of them now, licking my bells, and purring. When at last the cats retreated, I was sitting splayed-legged by the fire, Kent stood next to me with his sword drawn and ready, and the three hags stood in ranks across the cauldron from us. Ã¢â¬Å"You may curse me into a toad, but theyÃ¢â¬â¢ll be the last words out of your mouths while your heads are attached.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Witches?Ã¢â¬ said the first witch, who was greenest of the three. Ã¢â¬Å"What witches? We are but humble washerwomen, making our way in the wood.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Rendering laundry service, humble and good,Ã¢â¬ said witch two, the tallest. Ã¢â¬Å"She was ghostly pale,Ã¢â¬ said I, Ã¢â¬Å"all in white Ã¢â¬â vaporous, with fair hair and Ã¢â¬â Ã¢â¬Å" Ã¢â¬Å"She was fit, though?Ã¢â¬ asked Tall. There was much whispering and a bit of hissing. They broke their conference and Warty, who was the apparent coven leader, said, Ã¢â¬Å"That LearÃ¢â¬â¢s a nasty piece of work.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Last time he went Christian a score of witches were drowned,Ã¢â¬ said Tall. Kent nodded, and looked at his shoes. Ã¢â¬Å"The Petite Inquisition Ã¢â¬â not a high point.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Aye, we were a decade spelling them all back to life for the revenge,Ã¢â¬ said Warty. Ã¢â¬Å"Rosemary here still seeps pond-water from the ears on damp days,Ã¢â¬ said Tall. Ã¢â¬Å"Aye, and carps ate my small toes while I was pond-bottom,Ã¢â¬ said Green. Ã¢â¬Å"Her toes thus gefilted, we had to seek an enchanted lynx and take two of his for replacement.Ã¢â¬ Rosemary (who was Green) nodded gravely. Ã¢â¬Å"Goes through shoes in a fortnight, but thereÃ¢â¬â¢s no better witch to chase a squirrel up a tree,Ã¢â¬ said Tall. Ã¢â¬Å"ThatÃ¢â¬â¢s true,Ã¢â¬ said Rosemary. Ã¢â¬Å"Beats the burnings, though,Ã¢â¬ said Warty. Ã¢â¬Å"Aye, thatÃ¢â¬â¢s true,Ã¢â¬ said Tall. Ã¢â¬Å"No amount of cat toesÃ¢â¬â¢ll fix you if youÃ¢â¬â¢ve all your bits burnt off. Lear had him some burnings as well.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"IÃ¢â¬â¢m not here on behalf of Lear,Ã¢â¬ said I. Ã¢â¬Å"Oh, weÃ¢â¬â¢ve the time if youÃ¢â¬â¢ve the inclination, handsome.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Jolly good show, hag!Ã¢â¬ said I. I liked these crones, they had a fine-edged wit. Rosemary rolled her good eye at the earl, lifted her skirts, aimed her withered bottom at Kent, and rubbed a palsied claw over it. Ã¢â¬Å"Round and firm, good knight. Round and firm.Ã¢â¬ Kent gagged a little and backed away a few steps. Ã¢â¬Å"Gods save us! Away you ghastly carbuncled tart!Ã¢â¬ I would have looked away, should have, but I had never seen a green one. A weaker man might have plucked out his own eyes, but being a philosopher, I knew the sight could never be unseen, so I persevered. Ã¢â¬Å"Hop on, Kent,Ã¢â¬ said I. Ã¢â¬Å"Beast-shagging is thy calling and thou surely have been called.Ã¢â¬ Kent backed into a tree and half cold-cocked himself. He slid down the trunk, dazed. Rosemary dropped her skirts. Ã¢â¬Å"Just having you on.Ã¢â¬ The crones cackled as they huddled again. Ã¢â¬Å"WeÃ¢â¬â¢ve a proper toading for you once the foolÃ¢â¬â¢s business is finished, though. A moment, pleaseÃ¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ The witches whispered for a moment, then resumed their march around the cauldron. Ã¢â¬Å"Nose of Turk, and TartarÃ¢â¬â¢s lips, Griffin spunk and monkey hips, Mandrake rubbed with tiger nads, To divine undoing for the old king mad.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Oh bollocks,Ã¢â¬ said Sage, Ã¢â¬Å"weÃ¢â¬â¢re all out of monkey hips.Ã¢â¬ Parsley looked into the cauldron and gave it a stir. Ã¢â¬Å"We can make do without them. You can substitute a foolÃ¢â¬â¢s finger.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"No,Ã¢â¬ said I. Ã¢â¬Å"Well, then, get a finger from that comely hunk of man-meat with the bootblack on his beard Ã¢â¬â he seems foolish enough.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"No,Ã¢â¬ said Kent, still a tad dazed. Ã¢â¬Å"ThereÃ¢â¬â¢s no counting on accuracy without the monkey hips or foolÃ¢â¬â¢s finger,Ã¢â¬ said Rosemary. I said: Ã¢â¬Å"Let us make do and gallantly bugger on, shall we, ladies?Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"All right,Ã¢â¬ said Parsley, Ã¢â¬Å"but donÃ¢â¬â¢t blame us if we bollocks-up your future.Ã¢â¬ There was more stirring and chanting in dead languages, and no little bit of wailing, and finally, when I was about to doze off, a great bubble rose in the cauldron and when it burst it released a cloud of steam that formed itself into a giant face, not unlike the tragedy mask used by traveling players. It glowed against the misty night. Ã¢â¬Å"Ã¢â¬ËEllo,Ã¢â¬ said the giant face, sounding Cockney and a little drunk. Ã¢â¬Å"Hello, large and steamy face,Ã¢â¬ said I. Ã¢â¬Å"Fool, Fool, you must save the Drool, Quick to Gloucester, or blood will pool.Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Oh, for fuckÃ¢â¬â¢s sake, this one rhymes, too?Ã¢â¬ said I to the witches. Ã¢â¬Å"CanÃ¢â¬â¢t a bloke find a straightforward prose apparition?Ã¢â¬ Ã¢â¬Å"Quiet, fool!Ã¢â¬ snapped Sage, who I was back to thinking of as Warty. Another one of my goals is to achieve social and economic stability so that I can live a comfortable life. Five ways tools can help you tackle Twitter Five ways tools can help you tackle Twitter The basic Twitter.com platform is surprisingly inflexible. For example, it doesnt allow you to schedule tweets for later, monitor how many people have clicked on your links, combine multiple accounts or view more than one stream of information at a time. So most people who embrace Twitter use a variety of tools and apps to improve their experience. 1. Dashboard Two of the most popular dashboards are Tweetdeck (which started out as a separate entity but was bought by Twitter in May 2011) and Hootsuite. Both are free and let you view several streams simultaneously (for example your own tweets, replies to your tweets, direct messages or your timeline) in adjacent columns. Theyre also good for managing multiple Twitter accounts at the same time, and scheduling tweets. The main difference is that Tweetdeck is a desktop app so its not ideal if you hotdesk or work from several locations, while Hootsuite is browser based and therefore more portable. 2. Scheduled tweets Buffer offers even easier tweet scheduling, where instead of programming in a time and date for each tweet, you simply set a pattern. For example, you could program it to send two tweets a day, at 12.30pm and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. Then you just fill up the dashboard with your tweets and drag and drop them into the order you want. It also tracks the performance of tweets sent through Buffer, letting you know how many clicks, retweets, replies and favourites they received, as well as their potential reach. 3. Collaborative tweeting If youre setting up a Twitter account that several people will contribute to, GroupTweet is well worth a look. It allows multiple users to post tweets to one account, either through the GroupTweet dashboard, or via their personal account using the relevant @ address or hashtag. The basic version is free, but if you want to be able to moderate and schedule tweets, youll need to upgrade at a cost of $4.99 a month. 4. Collating tweets On Twitter.com, your tweets dont stay around for long. If you need to retrieve something that you tweeted, or was tweeted to you, more than a couple of weeks back, youll be lucky if you can still find it. Searching in Google can help, but it depends how far back you want to go. Rather than digging around to try and find important tweets after the fact, favourite them at the time. Or if youre having a discussion and you want to save all of it, use Storify. Its great for saving brainstorming sessions for later heres one of mine discussing the differences between lunch, tea and dinner (a brainstorm of such epic dimensions that I still havent written the article I intended to). 5. Performance analysis It can be tempting to try to measure your Twitter performance, but proceed with caution. Basically, youre already doing it right if people are talking to you, RTing you or opening your links, and if your number of followers is growing. However, if you do want a little feedback, there are services available. Just remember to take what they say with a pinch of salt, and not get too caught up in the idea of performance after all, its about communication and relationships, not numbers. One interesting service is Crowdbooster, which shows you which of your tweets have been most popular and how many people they have potentially reached (it calls these impressions). It also reminds you about tweets you havent yet replied to, offers you the opportunity to schedule tweets for later and even advises you about what it thinks is the best time of day to tweet to your followers. If you just want to use it with one Twitter account, its free. To add more, youll have to pay ($39 a month for ten accounts, $99 a month for 30 accounts). A more controversial service is Klout, which scores your social influence between 1 and 100 based on data such as follower and following numbers, retweets and interactions. Its accuracy, however, is debatable. For example, it thinks I am influential not just about Brighton (fair enough, I live there) but Afghanistan and the Chicago Bears (neither of which I recall ever tweeting about). Sometimes, a better solution is to break the sentence into shorter, more easily digestible servings, but often, the sentence is navigable when mere commas set off the statementÃ¢â¬â¢s elements- and sometimes the syntax requires commas and prohibits semicolons. (See the first paragraph of this post for a refresher about the two nearly distinct functions of a semicolon, and read this overview of the punctuation markÃ¢â¬â¢s roles.) Consider the following sentence: Ã¢â¬Å"Decisions to decrease inventory levels; maintain a soleÃ¢â¬ source or singleÃ¢â¬ source strategic supplier in any country of the world; and adopt justÃ¢â¬ inÃ¢â¬ time manufacturing and delivery techniques versus higher inventory levels, multiple suppliers, and other buffers in the process involve tradeÃ¢â¬ off decisions where quality, time, and cost considerations often win out over business-continuity considerations.Ã¢â¬ Here, semicolons are inappropriate because using them isolates the predicate (the part of the sentence beginning with involve) so that it appears to apply only to the third item in the list rather than to all items. (This is because a supercomma semicolon partly incorporates the role of a weak-period semicolon, in that it nearly grammatically sequesters whatever it sets off.) For the CBA the research was carried out in Chicago Child- Parent Centers located in Public schools. These centers are believed to provide educational and family support services to low -income children between the ages of 3 to 9. The data collected was from 1,539 programs and a comparison group of children selected who were born in 1980 . These children were the participants of Chicago Longitudinal Study. The measures of program participation were considerably but not only associated with higher school achievement and with higher school completion and also with lower rates of remedial education services, juvenile delinquency which is popularly known as youth crime and children maltreatment which means treating children abusively. The economic analyses showed that the economic benefits of the pre- school participation and School- going participation exceeded the costs. This indicated that a public program established for such things proves to be beneficial. If the article is critically analyzed, one would find strengths and challenges within it.
